Makers, Miners and Money Route of Industrial Heritage Exchange Visits

The second in a series of exchange visits to each of the sites included in the Makers, Miners and Money route of industrial heritage took place on 10th October 2014. Visits were made to Elsecar Heritage Centre, Wentworth Woodhouse, Wentworth Castle Gardens and Wortley Top Forge. The first series of visits included Kelham Island Museum, Shepherd Wheel Workshop, Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet and Magna Science Adventure Centre. Staff and volunteers from Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust, the National Coalmining Museum, Elsecar Heritage Centre, Wentworth Castle Gardens and Wentworth Woodhouse have so far participated in the visits. The programme of exchange visits aims to develop the knowledge and understanding of staff and volunteers from sites included in the route of the links between the participating sites and to enable them to promote these links to visitors.

The programme has been made possible thanks to a Sharing Heritage grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund awarded to the East Peak Innovation Partnership.
